Transportation Operator
Do you have the DRIVE to start a new career?
ACC's Continuing Education Commercial Vehicle Operator Training Program offers courses in commercial truck driving (CDL-A), tow truck driving, motor coach operator (CDL-B/P), bus driver, and U.S.C.G. near shore Captain's licensure (OUPV). Certified programs last from two weeks to one month, with a combination of in-classroom and behind-the-wheel training. New classes start almost every week.

CVOP 1013 Truck Driving Training I
(100.0 hours/$1746.50/$3.50 Insurance)
Truck Driving I and II Course Description: An introduction into the regulations governing the trucking industry and the qualifications for entry into the field. The purpose of this course is to certify and permit the students. During this course the students will be trained for their Class A licensing, as well as familiarizing themselves with the Department of Transportation rules and regulations. Students must be 21 years of age, have GED or high school diploma. The student must pass the Department of Transportation examination, including but not limited to urinalysis drug screening and Breath Alcohol test. This course is a hands-on class. Additional fees for drug screening, MV report, physical, and CDL total $150.00. Total program $3,657. General truck driving with hands-on skill development and instruction coordinated with the Department of Transportation.
Prerequisites: Students must contact the truck driving Admission Representative by calling 512.223.7340 or 512.560.7714 to complete the application process BEFORE they are allowed to register. After completing the application process, students must register for both CVOP 1013 and 1040 at the same time.

CVOP 1040 Truck Driving Training II
(100.0 hours/$1746.50/$3.50 Insurance)
A continuation of Professional Truck Driver I. General truck driving with hands-on skill development and instruction coordinated with the Department of Transportation. The student will demonstrate the safe operation and compliance with the law in various maneuvers of a commercial vehicle in different traffic situations; operate a tractor-trailer combination; and maneuver the vehicle safely frontward and backward around various obstacles.

This course covers a review of the transportation industry, the specific functions and duties of a bus driver, and provides hands-on experience that will assist an individual seeking employment opportunities in the transportation industry. Provides preparation for an entry-level position as an over-the-road driver with a commercial driver's license within the U.S. and Canada.

CVOP 1071 Professional Towing Operator Training
(36.0 hours/$550.00/$43.50 Insurance/$6.50 Material)
An introduction the regulations, skills, and qualifications needed to enter the field of tow truck operations. This course covers procedures and operation of typical light duty towing vehicles, through both classroom and hands-on instruction. Instruction includes: safe and proper use of equipment, dispatch, incident management, current state and local rules and regulations, types of towing equipment, and customer service.
