Sommelier

Wine Fundamentals Certificate Level I & II: The 12-week Training Program is held three times per year in the fall, spring, and summer. These two courses need to be completed prior to sitting for the Sommelier Diploma Program (SDP). The International Sommelier Guild (ISG) has brought together the resources of top educational institutions, industry leaders, premier restaurateurs, wine merchants, and wine writers. The ISG has certified sommeliers for nearly 20 years and it is the only professional body that certifies sommeliers by direct instruction. The course instructor is Darryl Beeson, a well-known Sommelier in the Dallas Metroplex, who has guided wine programs in establishments such as the French Room-Adolphus Hotel, The Mansion On Turtle Creek, and the Gaylord Resort at Grapevine. He is currently the ISG instructor for sommelier training at the Conrad Hilton School of hotel-restaurant Management at the University of Houston.
