Real Estate
CREDIT AND CERTIFICATION
Each of the following courses provides 30 hrs of core credit. To earn credit and receive a certificate of completion, you must (1) attend 90% of the total class hrs, making up any time you are absent, and (2) pass a final evaluation. REQUIRED MATERIALS: You must bring the required textbook to the first class; Titles are available from the Continuing Education registration office at 512.223.7542 or 512.223.7017 or 512.223.7525 or call the ACC Rio Grande Bookstore at 817 W. 12th Street, 512.474.2607 for availability, store location and hrs. A business calculator is also required for this program.
Online Student instructions:
Online classes can be started any time after the section start date and completed before the close date for the section. You will not be able to register for a class within 4 weeks of the close date. You can register today and start the class the next day.
Texas Real Estate Commissions requires four core classes and three supplemental courses totaling 210 classroom hrs to prepare for the Sales and Licensing test.
The four core classes are:
• RELE 1002 Principles of Real Estate I
• RELE 1038 Principles of Real Estate II
• RELE 1012 Real Estate Contracts
OR RELE 1034
• RELE 2002 Law of Agency.
Supplemental courses can be chosen from the remaining courses.
RELE 1001 Principles of Real Estate
(32.0 hours/$135.00)
Overview of licensing as a real estate broker or salesperson. Includes ethics of practice as a license holder; titles to and conveyance of real estate; legal descriptions; deeds; encumbrances and liens; distinctions between personal and real property; appraisal; finance and regulations; closing procedures; and real estate mathematics. Covers at least three hours of classroom instruction on federal, state, and local laws relating to housing discrimination, housing credit discrimination, and community reinvestment. Fulfills at least 30 of 60 hours of required instruction for salesperson license. Integrated with college credit RELE 1201.

RELE 1022 Texas Real Estate Marketing

A study of real estate professionalism and ethics; characteristics of successful salespersons; time management; psychology of marketing; listing procedures; advertising; negotiating and closing financing; and the deceptive trade practice act, consumer protection act, and commercial code. A competitive market analysis; complete a listing agreement to include seller's disclosure form; and demonstrate the ability to overcome objections and utilize closing techniques. The student will identify the most common violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practice Act by real estate agents and the three main areas involved in the Canons of Professional Ethics; and list and describe the characteristics of a successful real estate salesperson.

RELE 2003 Real Estate Mandatory Continuing Education
(16.0 hours/$85.00)
Austin Community College's (Provider # 0022) approved course # 15-06-129-6572 is designed to meet the 15-hour Mandatory Continuing Education requirement by the Texas Real Estate Commission and is approved by the Commission for the purpose. This course includes the new 3-hour legal update and the new 3-hour ethics, plus the additional 9 hours of elective topics including legal, finance, and environmental issues. Required textbook: "Keeping Current with Texas Real Estate". Call the ACC Rio Grande Bookstore, 817 W.12th Street at 512.474.2607 for availability. Students must attend 100% of the class and have a current edition of the required text in class in order to receive credit for this course. No refunds or transfers will be allowed if these requirements are not met. Please Note: TREC requires the completion data 24 hours before the expiration date of your license.
Prerequisites: Current Texas Real Estate Broker License or Texas Real Estate Sales License.
