Medical Insurance Billing Certificate

The Medical Insurance Billing Assistant Program has been developed for individuals who wish to work with patient records in a physician’s office or major clinic. Using the Medisoft Advanced system, the student will prepare a bill for submission to insurance companies, managed care companies, as well as other entities. Also covered are setting up appointments and processing payments.
Required Curriculum Plan:
HITT 1005/1305 Medical Terminology (48 hrs)
HITT 1013/1213 Insurance Coding (48 hrs)
POFT 1031/1231 Business Machine Applications: Data Entry
POFI 2001/2301 MS Word I
MDCA 1021 Administrative Procedures
HITT 2040 Advanced Medical Insurance Billing
(48.0 hours/$250.00)
Advanced skills course teaching students to complete HCFA 1500, UB 92, Medicaid, Medicare, Tricare, CHAMPVA, and Worker Compensation insurance forms. Includes Introduction to Code Diagnoses using ICD 9 text. Can be taken concurrently with Insurance Coding.
