General Healthcare Courses
The following collection of courses is designed for all health care professionals. They focus on topics that can assist you in your daily practice as well as expand your skills in the areas of interpersonal and psychosocial issues. These topics are becoming increasingly important in the fast moving, ever changing healthcare environment of today.
BIOL 4000 Biology Assessment Test Prep
(16.0 hours/$40.00)
A Biology Assessment Examination is required to register for Human Anatomy (BIOL 2304). Continuing Education offers a 16-hour course to prepare students for the examination. Contact 223-7542 to register for BIOL 4000. Students should attend all four class meetings of this 16-hour course. The course is designed to prepare students for the Biology Assessment Test.
A passing grade on the assessment examination is required to register for the Human Anatomy Course, BIOL 2304/2101 .

BUSG 7000 Social Security Disability Filing Secrets

According to Social Security Administration statistics, three out of five people filing for disability for the first time are denied benefits. This online course will prepare you to be proactive and in control of your disability case long before officially filing. SCWK 1075 Validation Worker Certification
(80.0 hours/$1000.00)
Course provides training in communication techniques with older adults with Alzheimer's-type dementia and includes: review of basic Validation r Theory and Erikson's life stages and tasks; comparison of Validation method with other common methods; study of Feil's four phases of late-onset dementia; and study and practical application of Validation r techniques. Prepares students to receive Certified Validation r Worker (CVW) status from the Validation r Training Institute. The course is held over 11 months, with meeting days only on 11/9/09, 11/10/09, 2/8/10, 2/9/10, 4/19/10, 4/20/10, 7/5/10, 7/6/10, 10/4/10, and 10/5/10. To obtain certification, students must attend all meeting days, pass both a written and practical exam, and practice and document Validation r sessions with disoriented older persons for a minimum of 26 weeks. Arranging Validation r practice is the student's responsibility, and documentation includes videotaping at least one session.
