DFTG 1405 Technical Drafting
Introduction to the principles of drafting to include terminology and fundamentals, including size and shape descriptions, projection methods, geometric construction, sections, auxiliary views, and reproduction processes. Serves as the department's introduction to computer-aided-design (CAD) course.
DFTG 1417 Architectural Drafting -- Residential
Architectural drafting procedures, practices, and symbols. Preparation of detailed working drawings for residential structures. Emphasis on light frame construction methods. Prerequisite: DFTG 1405 and DFTG 2419 or instructor approval. May be concurrently with DFTG 2419.

DFTG 1458 Electrical/Electronic Drafting
A study of the principles of layout of electrical and electronic drawings, stressing modern representation used for block diagrams, schematic diagrams, logic diagrams, wiring/assembly drawings, printed circuit board layouts, motor control diagrams, power distribution diagrams, and electrical one-line diagrams. An introduction to schematics, logic diagrams and electro/mechanical design. Study of electronic symbols and the use of industrial standards. Prerequisite: DFTG 1405. May be taken concurrently with DFTG 2419.
DFTG 1491 Special Topics in Drafting and Design Technology/Technician, General
Topics address recently identified current events, skills, knowledge, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of the student. This course was designed to be repeated multiple times to improve student proficiency.
Drafting Portfolio--Architectural and Engineering Computer Aided Design's capstone course. Particular attention is given to the development of a portfolio suitable for job hunting in the Architectural and Engineering CAD field. May be repeated to meet the requirements of an Architectural and Engineering CAD internship.
Prerequisite: Advanced students only or departmental approval. Students must attend orientation.
DFTG 1493 Special Topics in Civil Drafting and Civil Engineering CAD/CADD
Topics address recently identified current events, skills, knowledge, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of the student. This course was designed to be repeated multiple times to improve student proficiency.
Advanced Civil Drafting - This course covers civil engineering drafting principles and applications using a dynamic model based approach. Topics include: exchanging civil design data, surface modeling and analysis, site development, grading, road design, subdivision land planning, utility design and production drafting.
Prerequisite: DFTG 2430.
DFTG 2412 Technical Illustration and Presentation
Pictorial drawing including isometrics, obliques, perspectives, charts, and graphs. Emphasis on rendering and using different media. Introduction to design, problem solving and team building. Students will learn basic sketching and techniques, the creation of solid models and rendering. The students will design and create 3D animations and design a cover for a conference program. Prerequisite: DFTG 2419.
DFTG 2419 Intermediate Computer-Aided Drafting
A continuation of practices and techniques used in basic computer-aided drafting emphasizing advanced dimensioning techniques, the development and use of prototype drawings, construction of pictorial drawings, construction of three-dimensional drawings, interfacing 2D and 3D environments and extracting data. Prerequisite: DFTG 1405.
DFTG 2421 Topographical Drafting
DFTG 2428 Architectural Drafting - Commercial
Architectural drafting procedures, practices, and symbols including the preparation of detailed working drawings for a commercial building, with emphasis on commercial construction methods. This course emphasizes accuracy of details and knowledge of building materials. Each student will prepare a set of construction documents for a commercial structure. The course will be operated in the same manner as a typical architectural firm. Prerequisite: DFTG 1417.
DFTG 2430 Civil Drafting
An in-depth study of drafting methods and principles used in public works civil engineering. Prerequisite: DFTG 1405 and DFTG 2419 or instructor approval. May be taken concurrently with DFTG 2419.
DFTG 2432 Advanced Computer-Aided Drafting
Exploration of the use of system customization for drawing production enhancement and the principles of data manipulation. Presentation of advanced applications, such as three-dimensional object creation and linking graphic entities to external nongraphic data. This course builds on the skills achieved in earlier Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) courses. The student exploits advanced and customizable features of the CAD software to build an efficient, integrated, customized CAD environment. The course explores in more detail several advanced concepts aimed at increasing drawing efficiency, including linking with external drawings and documents, creating, editing, and maintaining libraries of drawing components, and creating dimension styles and viewpoints. The student also gains exposure to the customizable features of the CAD software, including linetypes, hatch patterns, scripts, slide shows, macros, shapes, and an integrated custom menu system. The course concludes with a brief introduction to the programming environment accessible from the CAD software to help the student decide whether to continue on into the CAD Programming course. Prerequisite: DFTG 2419.
DFTG 2440 Solid Modeling/Design
A computer-aided solid modeling course. Development of three-dimensional drawings and models from engineering sketches and orthographic drawings and utilization of three-dimensional models in design work. Prerequisite: DFTG 1433.
DFTG 2470 Integrated Circuit Layout and Design I
This is an introductory course in the design of integrated circuitry and the I.C. designer's role in industry. Students will study I.C. design theory and employ specialized CADD software to plan chips and create "cells." Prerequisite: DFTG 1458, DFTG 2419, or Instructor approval. May be taken concurrently with CETT 1403. CETT 1425 recommended.
DFTG 2471 Integrated Circuit Layout and Design II
An advanced course in the layout and design of integrated circuits. Students will study advanced design theory and employ specialized CAD tools to layout and verify circuits. Prerequisite: DFTG 2470. May be taken concurrently with CETT 1425.
DFTG 2473 Introduction to CAD/CAM
An introductory course that demonstrates the integration of Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided-Manufacturing (CAM). This is a study of modern prototyping and machining methods, teaching the use of specific software for converting 2D and 3D CAD drawing geometry directly into toolpath information used to drive numerically controlled turning and milling machines. Prerequisite: DFTG 1433.
DFTG 2474 Architectural Modeling
This course presents computer techniques used in the creation of three dimensional architectural models. Prerequisite: DFTG 2412 and DFTG 2428 or department approval.
