Education Instruction

Special Admission Requirements for All Education Students: To receive an Associate of Arts degree in Teaching, the student must (a) make a minimum grade of C in all required courses, (b) have an overall GPA of 2.0 or greater and (c) authorize independent school districts to complete a comprehensive criminal history check. Students will not be allowed to participate in field observations without criminal background clearance.

EDUC 1301 Introduction to the Teaching Profession
Students in EDUC 1301 must pass a criminal history background check and complete 16 hours of field observations in the public schools. Background checks and placements will be addressed during the first week of class.

EDUC 2301 Introduction to Special Populations
Students in EDUC 2301 must pass a criminal history background check and complete 16 hours of field observations in the public schools. Background checks and placements will be addressed during the first week of class. EDUC 1301 is a pre-requisite course to EDUC 2301. Students must complete EDUC 1301 with a "C" or better.
