Course Descriptions All Courses
MATD 0011 Developmental Mathematics Lab
Designed for students currently registered in a Developmental Mathematics course. Both individualized and group settings provide additional practice and explanation. Students must be enrolled in one of the developmental courses simultaneously with the Developmental Math Lab class. This course is not for college-level credit.

MATD 0290 Intermediate Algebra
A course designed to develop the skills and understanding contained in the second year of secondary school algebra. Topics include the properties of the real numbers; operations on polynomials and fractions; special products and factoring; radicals and rational exponents; solutions of linear, fractional, and quadratic equations; systems of linear equations; inequalities; coordinate systems; graphing. When this course is combined with MATD 0370, it has the same prerequisite as MATD 0370. Otherwise it has the same prerequisite as MATD 0390. This course is not for college-level credit.

MATD 0330 Basic Math Skills
A course designed to develop basic arithmetic and algebra skills to prepare for courses covering secondary school algebra, the first of which is MATD 0370. Content includes operations on whole numbers, integers, fractions, decimals, ratio and proportions, percent, solving linear equations in one variable applications, and relating simple algebra concepts to geometry. The same course is offered in a one hour (0130) and two hour (0230) format. This course is not for college-level credit.

MATD 0370 Elementary Algebra
A course designed to develop the skills and understanding contained in the first year of secondary school algebra. Topics include review of operations on real numbers, graphing linear equations, solving linear and quadratic equations, solving systems of linear equations, operations on polynomials including division of polynomials, use of negative exponents, operations using scientific notation, factoring, and applications. The same course is offered in a one hour (0170) and two hour format (0270). This course is not for college-level credit. Prerequisite: C or better in MATD 0330 or its equivalent knowledge, or appropriate score on the ACC Mathematics Assessment Test taken before enrolling in ACC mathematics courses.

MATD 0385 Developing Mathematical Thinking
A course designed to develop the skills, including reading and thinking, and the understanding needed for non-math, non-science majors who take MATH 1332, MATH 1333 and MATH 1342. Topics include: linear models, data interpretations including graphs and tables, percentage models, order of operations, logic of arguments, and an introduction to other models which may include exponential, logarithmic, quadratic and/or rational models. This course is not for college level credit. Students who need to prepare for MATH 1314, MATH 1324, MATH 1316, etc. should not take this course, but instead should take MATD 0390. Prerequisite: MATD 0370 with C or better or an appropriate score on the ACC Mathematics Assessment Test taken before enrolling in ACC mathematics courses.

MATD 0390 Intermediate Algebra
A course designed to develop the skills and understanding contained in the second year of secondary school algebra. Topics include review of properties of real numbers, functions, algebra of functions, inequalities, polynomials and factoring, rational expressions and equations, radical expressions and equations, quadratic functions and their graphs, solving quadratic equations, and exponential functions. The same course is offered in a one hour (0190) and two hour (0290) format. This course is not for college-level credit. Prerequisite: C or better in MATD 0370 or its equivalent knowledge, or appropriate score on the ACC Mathematics Assessment Test taken before enrolling in ACC mathematics courses.
