HITT 1160 Clinical - Health Information/Medical Records Technology/Technician
A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional. Prerequisite: HITT 1305, HITT 1353, HITT 1301, and HITT 1341.

HITT 1213 Insurance Coding
Provides skills and knowledge in the health information field for ICD-9 and CPT coding of insurance forms for reimbursement of medical services.

HITT 1255 Health Care Statistics
Principles of health care statistics with emphasis in hospital statistics. Skill development in computation and calculation of health data. Prerequisite: BIOL 2404, HITT 1301, HITT 1305, and HITT 1341.

HITT 1260 Clinical - Health Information/Medical Records Technology/Technician
A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional. Prerequisite: HITT 1305, HITT 1301, and HITT 1341.

HITT 1301 Health Data Content and Structure
Introduction to systems and processes for collecting, maintaining, and disseminating primary and secondary health related information. Instruction in delivery and organizational structure to include content of health record, documentation requirements, registries, indices, licensing, regulatory agencies, forms, and screens.

HITT 1305 Medical Terminology I
An in-depth study of word origin and structure through the introduction of prefixes, suffixes, root words, plurals, abbreviations and symbols, surgical procedures, medical specialties, and diagnostic procedures.

HITT 1341 Coding and Classification Systems
Application of basic coding rules, principles, guidelines, and conventions. Prerequisite: HITT 1305 AND BIOL 2404.

HITT 1345 Health Care Delivery Systems
Introduction to organization, financing, and delivery of health care services, accreditation, licensure, and regulatory agencies. Prerequisite: HITT 1301.

HITT 1349 Pharmacology
Overview of the basic concept of the pharmacological treatment of various diseases affecting major body systems. Prerequisite: BIOL 2404 and HITT 1305.

HITT 1353 Legal and Ethical Aspects of Health Information


HITT 2231 Medical Terminology - Advanced Technology/Technician
Study of advanced terminology in various medical and surgical specialties. Prerequisite: HITT 1305 and BIOL 2404.

HITT 2335 Coding and Reimbursement Methodologies
Development of advanced coding techniques with emphasis on case studies, health records, and federal regulations regarding perspective payment systems and methods of reimbursement. Prerequisite: HITT 1301, HITT 1305, and HITT 1341.

HITT 2343 Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement
Study of quality standards and methodologies in the health information management environment. Topics include licensing, accreditation, compilation and presentation of data in statistical formats, quality management and performance improvement functions, utilization management, risk management, and medical staff data quality issues. Prerequisite: MATH 1332 and HITT 1301.

HITT 2360 Clinical - Health Information/Medical Records Technology/Technician
A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional. Clinical hours can vary during the week. Prerequisite: HITT 1305, HITT 1301, and HITT 1341.
