A work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills and concepts. A learning plan is developed by the college and the employer. Prerequisite: ELMT 2441.

ELMT 2275 Solar Thermal Systems
This course will train interested participants on the various and most common solar thermal system installations. The course will review the different components and the respective functions of a solar thermal system. The course also covers the financial aspects of installing different solar thermal systems such as cost, energy savings, and return of investments. The course will involve the inspection and installation of various types of solar thermal systems. Individual components are discussed and multiple labs will be performed. Emphasis will be placed on hands-on training.

ELMT 2276 Solar Photovoltaics Installation
The contents of this course will focus on the installation of different types of photovoltaic systems such as pole mounted, roof mounted, grid-tied, non-grid tied and battery backup or hybrid systems. This course will allow participants with the opportunity to practice hands-on installation of these systems. The course is geared for participants and students who have already completed a solar photovoltaic course and or have some knowledge of photovoltaic systems. The focus of this course is hands-on training for participants. Prerequisite: ELMT 2474.
