OTHA 1162 Clinical - Occupational Therapist Assistant - Pediatric Level I
A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional. Apply the theory, concepts, and skills involving specialized materials, tools, equipment, procedures, regulations, laws, and interactions within and among political, economic, environmental, social, and legal systems associated with the occupation and the business/industry and will demonstrate legal and ethical behavior, safety practices, interpersonal and teamwork skills, and appropriate written and verbal communication skills using the terminology of the occupation and the business/industry. Prerequisite: OTHA 1305. Corequisite: OTHA 1341.

OTHA 1253 Occupational Performance for Elders
Study of the occupational performance of elders. Includes frames of reference, evaluation tools and techniques, and intervention strategies specific to this population. Prerequisite: OTHA 2305, OTHA 1161, and OTHA 2331.

OTHA 1315 Therapeutic Use of Occupations or Activities I
Various occupations or activities used as therapeutic interventions in occupational therapy. Emphasis on awareness of activity demands, contexts, adaptation, gradation and safe implementation of occupations or activities. Prerequisite: OTHA 1305.

OTHA 1319 Therapeutic Interventions I
Concepts, techniques and assessments leading to proficiency in skills and activities used in treatment interventions in occupational therapy (OT). Emphasizes the Occupational Therapy Assistant's role in the OT process. Prerequisite: OTHA 1305.

OTHA 1341 Occupational Performance from Birth through Adolescence
Study of the physical, psychosocial, and cognitive occupational performance of newborns through adolescents with an emphasis on characteristics of purposeful activities. Includes frames of reference, evaluation tools and techniques, and intervention strategies specific to this population. Prerequisite: PSYC 2314 and OTHA 1305. Corequisite: OTHA 1162.

OTHA 2235 Health Care Management in Occupational Therapy
Explores the roles of the occupational therapy assistant in health care delivery. Topics include documentation, reimbursement, credentialing, ethical standards, health care team role delineation, and management.

OTHA 2266 Practicum (or Field Experience) - Occupational Therapist Assistant - Level 2
Practical, general workplace training supported by an individualized learning plan developed by the employer, college, and student. Apply the theory, concepts, and skills involving specialized materials, tools, equipment, procedures, regulations, laws, and interactions within and among political, economic, environmental, social, and legal systems associated with the occupation and the business/industry and will demonstrate legal and ethical behavior, safety practices, interpersonal and teamwork skills, and appropriate written and verbal communication skills using the terminology of the occupation and the business/industry. Prerequisite: OTHA 2305, OTHA 1253, OTHA 2331, OTHA 1161.

OTHA 2301 Pathophysiology in Occupational Therapy
Study of the pathology and general health management of diseases and injuries across the lifespan encountered in occupational therapy treatment settings. Topics include etiology, symptoms, and the physical and psychological reactions to diseases and injuries. Offered in Spring.
