BIOL 2420 Microbiology for the Health Sciences
Designed primarily for students interested in ACC Health Sciences programs. Prerequisites of BIOL 2404 or BIOL 2304/BIOL 2101 (or equivalents with lecture AND LAB) are STRICTLY enforced. NOTICE: due to lab safety considerations there are NO OVERLOADS into full sections. No exceptions.

Special Admission Requirements for All Education Students: To receive an Associate of Arts degree in Teaching, the student must (a) make a minimum grade of C in all required courses, (b) have an overall GPA of 2.0 or greater and (c) authorize independent school districts to complete a comprehensive criminal history check. Students will not be allowed to participate in field observations without criminal background clearance.

EDUC 2301 Introduction to Special Populations
Students in EDUC 2301 must pass a criminal history background check and complete 16 hours of field observations in the public schools. Background checks and placements will be addressed during the first week of class. EDUC 1301 is a pre-requisite course to EDUC 2301. Students must complete EDUC 1301 with a "C" or better.

Academic ESOL offers English classes for speakers of other languages in three skill areas: writing and grammar, reading and vocabulary, oral communication. Within each area, we offer classes at five levels: introduction, high beginning, low intermediate, high intermediate and advanced. Students wanting to enroll in ESOL classes must take the ESOL assessment test. For information about the assessment test, call 223-9202 or 223-9236. For information about the Academic ESOL program, call 223-9202 or 223-9201 (Department Chair); 223-3349 or 223-3354 (RGC); 223-4014 (NRG); 223-2096 or 223-2163(CYP); 223-5507 (EVC). For students who want to take ESOL through Continuing Education, please call 223-7717. The ESOL Department offers classes for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
