MUSI 1116 Sight-Singing and Ear Training I
Basic aural, visual, and vocal experiences in dictation and singing at sight. Prerequisite: MUSI 1301 or instructor approval.
MUEN 1121 Stage Ensemble
Provides training in the specific techniques necessary for ensemble performance. Emphasizes both ensemble and solo playing. Repertoire varies according to emphasis. May be repeated for maximum of four hour credits. Prerequisite: Open to any student who can qualify by audition.
MUEN 1122 Jazz Ensemble
Provides training in the specific techniques necessary for ensemble performance. Emphasizes both ensemble and solo playing. Repertoire varies according to emphasis. May be repeated for maximum of four hour credits. Prerequisite: Open to any student who can qualify by audition.
MUEN 1132 Guitar Ensemble

MUEN 1141 Vocal Ensemble
A choral ensemble that is open to any student who can qualify by audition. Will give several public performances each semester. Repertoire varies according to emphasis. Three hours of rehearsal required per week. May be repeated for a maximum of four credit hours.
MUEN 1142 Jazz Choir Ensemble

An instrument or vocal performance group that is open to any student who can qualify by audition. Emphasis on performance of literature for small ensembles. May be repeated for Credit.

Group instruction in the fundamentals of keyboard technique for beginning piano students.
MUSI 1182 Piano Class II
Group instruction in the study of harmony, transposition, accompaniment styles, improvisation, sight reading, keyboard technique, and major and minor scales. Prerequisite: MUSI 1181.
MUSI 1183 Voice Class I
A study of voice, emphasizing the principles of breathing, voice production, tone quality, enunciation, and interpretation.
MUAP 1187 Applied -- Composition
Private instruction on instruments or in voice and consists of one-half hour lesson per week. May be repeated for credit.
MUSI 1192 Guitar Class
Class instruction in the fundamentals of guitar technique for guitar students. Course objectives include development of accompaniment style, scales, fingerpicking, chord construction, music reading, melody playing, and solo guitar techniques. Generally, students are expected to provide their own guitars.

MUSI 1301 Music Fundamentals
An introduction to the elements of music, including study of the staff, clefs, key signatures, scales, time signatures, notation, meter and rhythm, major and minor chords, song writing techniques, application of theory at the keyboard, and rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic ear training.
MUSI 1306 Music Appreciation
A foundation course for enjoyment and understanding of music through use of recorded music and song literature. Elements of music and analysis of music form and design and its relation to other subjects and activities.
MUSI 1308 Music Literature I
A survey of principal forms, styles, and periods through the study of representative composers and works. Emphasis is on the music from Antiquity through the Baroque.
MUSI 1311 Music Theory I
A review of the fundamentals of music; part writing and figured bass exercises, melody harmonizations, dominant seventh chords, and non-harmonic tones. Prerequisite: MUSI 1301 or instructor approval.
MUSI 2116 Sight-Singing and Ear Training III
A continuation of aural, visual, and vocal experiences including modulations to closely related keys, modal melodies and compound intervals. Advanced harmonic, melodic, and rhythmic dictation exercises. Prerequisite: MUSI 1117 and MUSI 1312. Corequisites: MUSI 2311.
MUSI 2311 Music Theory III
A study of advanced diatonic and chromatic harmony as an extension of Music Theory I and II. The emphasis will be placed upon analysis and composition of music. Prerequisite: MUSI 1312 and MUSI 1117. Corequisites: MUSI 2116.
