DSVT 1103 Introduction to Vascular Technology
An introduction to basic noninvasive vascular theories, with emphasis on basic skills and knowledge, such as image orientation, transducer handling, and identification of anatomic structures. Prerequisite: DMSO 1110 and DMSO 1351.

A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional. Prerequisite: DMSO 1110 and DMSO 1351.

A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional Prerequisite: DMSO 1110 and DMSO 1351.
DMSO 1291 Special Topics in Diagnostic Medical Sonography Technician
Topics address recently identified current events, skills, knowledge, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of the student. This course was designed to be repeated multiple times to improve student proficiency. Prerequisite: DMSO 2342 or DSAE 2337; DMSO 2362 or DSAE 2362; and DMSO 2351.
DSAE 1318 Sonographic Instrumentation
DSAE 1415 Principles of Adult Echocardiography
An introduction to cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, including hemodynamics and spatial relationships of the normal adult heart. Topics include anatomical correlation of 2-D, M-Mode, and Doppler sonographic imaging. Scanning techniques are correlated and taught in the laboratory sessions. Prerequisite: DMSO 1110 and DMSO 1351.
DMSO 1441 Abdominopelvic Sonography
Normal anatomy and physiology of the abdominal and pelvic cavities as related to scanning techniques, transducer selection, and scanning protocols. Prerequisite: DMSO 1351, DMSO 1110.
DSVT 2300 Vascular Technology Applications
Non-invasive vascular technology. Includes 2-D imaging, Doppler, plethysmography, and segmental pressures. Emphasizes protocols for performing basic venous and arterial imaging and non-imaging exams. Prerequisite: DSVT 1300.
DSAE 2355 Echocardiography Professionalism and Registry Review
Explain the issues related to the echocardiography professional and the legal and ethical considerations of the profession; demonstrate appropriate ergonomic techniques for echocardiography; demonstrate registry preparedness; apply advanced instrumentation skills; and develop department management strategies and documents. Prerequisite: DMSO 1191, DSAE 2337, and DSAE 2362. Department approval.
DMSO 2357 Advanced Ultrasound Professionalism and Registry Review
Sonographic profession principles and scope of practice including legal and ethical issues for the sonographer. Department management procedures. Laboratory will include application of advanced techniques and instrumentation. Ergonomics of scanning and injury prevention. Essential concepts of registry preparation. Prerequisite: DMSO 1191, DMSO 2342, and DMSO 2362. Department approval.

A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional. Prerequisite: DMSO 2362, DMSO 2351, and DMSO 2342.
