CNBT 1210 Basic Construction Safety


WDWK 1291 Special Topics in Cabinet Maker and Millworker
Topics address recently identified current events, skills, knowledge and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of the student. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisite: CNBT 1411 or department approval.

CNBT 1359 Project Scheduling
A study of conventional scheduling using critical-path-method; precedence networks; bar charts; monthly reports; and fast track scheduling. Prerequisite: CNBT 1411.

WDWK 1400 Beginning Woodworking
The first course in a logical sequence of courses in which students learn to build wood projects using dados, rabbets, and tongue and groove joints.

OSHT 1405 OSHA Regulations -- Construction Industry
A study of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations pertinent to the construction industry. Prerequisite: CNBT 1411, CNBT 1402, CNBT 1413, and CRPT 1415.

CNBT 1411 Construction Methods and Materials I
An introduction to construction materials and methods and their applications. This is a hands-on survey course which has four components: construction management, concrete/masonry, carpentry, and woodworking. Students learn to use math, blueprints, building specifications, optical leveling equipment, hand tools, portable power tools, and stationary power tools in a sequence of learning activities designed for students to acquire entry level skills and knowledge of the construction industry.

CNBT 1413 Concrete I
A study of the various techniques for concrete utilization in residential and light construction from the theoretical concepts of hydration to the practical experience of verifying site conditions, interpreting data used to establish conditions of level, square, plumb, parallel, and perpendicular, tying steel, and placing and finishing a concrete slab. Prerequisite: CNBT 1411.

WDWK 1413 Cabinet Making I
Design and construction of base cabinets and wall cabinets for kitchens and bathrooms. Emphasis on the safe use of portable and stationary power tools. Prerequisite: CNBT 1411 or WDWK 1400.

CRPT 1441 Conventional Exterior Finish Systems
Skill development in the installation of exterior finish systems and components including the placement and installation of cornice, windows, doors, siding, and flashing. Emphasis on safe work practices and the selection, use, and maintenance of tools and equipment. Prerequisite: CNBT 1411 or department approval.

CRPT 1445 Conventional Interior Finish Systems
Instruction in the installation of interior finish systems and components including the placement and installation of doors and trim and floor, wall, and ceiling finishes. Emphasis on safe work practices and the selection, use, and maintenance of tools and equipment. Prerequisite: CNBT 1411 or department approval.

CNBT 1446 Construction Estimating I
Fundamentals of estimating materials and labor costs in construction. Prerequisite: CNBT 1411 and CNBT 1400 or department approval.

WDWK 1491 Special Topics in Cabinet Maker and Millworker
Topics address recently identified current events, skills, knowledge, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of the student. May be repeated for credit. Furniture Construction - Students will build household furniture such as beds, dining tables, or futons as a course requirement. The focus will be joinery, wood selection, and construction practices will parallel industry standards. May be repeatable.

CNBT 2280 Cooperative Education - Construction Engineering Technology/Technician
Career related activities encountered in the student's area of specialization are offered through a cooperative agreement between the college, employer, and student. Under supervision of the college and the employer, the student combines classroom learning with work experience. Directly related to a technical discipline, specific learning objectives guide the student through the paid work experience. This course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary. Prerequisite: CNBT 1411 or department approval.

CNBT 2346 Construction Management III
An advanced course in construction safety, project management, scheduling, material handling, layout, payment scheduling, and inspection. Focus will be on the responsibilities and duties of the general contractor and the business of general contracting. Prerequisite: CNBT 2344.

WDWK 2405 Intermediate Woodworking
The second course in a sequence of courses that allows students to refine skills required to build quality furniture. Prerequisite: WDWK 1413 and WDWK 1400.

CNBT 2435 Computer-Aided Construction Scheduling
Advanced construction scheduling utilizing computer scheduling software to perform various scheduling procedures. Prerequisite: CNBT 2332 or department approval.

CNBT 2437 Construction Estimating II
Advanced estimating concepts using computer software programs for the construction and crafts. Prerequisite: CNBT 1446.
