ABDR 1301 Auto Body Repair and Repainting
An introduction to the use of hand and power tools, techniques of metalworking, body preparation, plastic fillers, fiberglass and SMC repair, sanding, and application of primers with emphasis on shop safety practices.

ABDR 1315 Vehicle Trim and Hardware
An in depth study of vehicle trim and glass service.

AUMT 1405 Introduction to Automotive Technology
An introduction to the automotive industry including automotive history, safety practices, shop equipment and tools, vehicle subsystems, service publications, fasteners, professional responsibilities, and automotive maintenance. Emphasis is on automobile construction, major components, basic systems and their repair and maintenance.

MTRC 1405 Motorcycle Service Principles
Principles of operation of two and four stroke motorcycle engines and their associated systems. Emphasis on troubleshooting and analysis of faulty systems and their individual components using proper repair manuals and special tools. Also included are fuels, lubricants, oil and filter changes, and various types of engine cooling.

AUMT 1407 Automotive Electrical Systems
An overview of automotive electrical systems including topics in operational theory, testing, magnetism, diagnosis, and repair of batteries, charging and starting systems, and electrical accessories. Emphasis on electrical schematic diagrams, chassis wiring and switches, and service manuals. Prepares students for ASE certification tests.

AUMT 1410 Automotive Brake Systems
Operation and repair of drum/disc type brake systems. Emphasis on safe use of modern equipment. Topics include brake theory, concepts related to design, diagnosis and repair of power assist systems, manual, anti-lock brake systems, scan tool diagnostics, and parking brakes. Prepares students for ASE certification tests.

SMER 1410 Marine Drive Units
Operation, service, troubleshooting, and overhaul of all Marine Drive systems. Emphasis on the use of proper tools and procedures when servicing the mid section, lower unit, trim, and tilt systems.

ABDR 1411 Vehicle Measurement and Damage Repair Procedures
Introduction to damaged vehicle measurement and alignment systems.

SMER 1413 Marine Electrical Systems
Theory of operation and test procedures and equipment used in the diagnosis and repair of the various circuits which make up a marine electrical system.

AUMT 1416 Automotive Suspension and Steering Systems
Theory and operation of automotive suspension and steering systems including tire and wheel problem diagnosis, component repair, and alignment procedures. Prepares students for ASE certification tests.

ABDR 1419 Basic Metal Repair
In depth coverage of basic metal principles and working techniques including proper tool usage and product application.

AUMT 1419 Automotive Engine Repair
Fundamentals of engine operation, diagnosis and repair including lubrication systems and cooling systems. Emphasis on overhaul of selected engines, identification and inspection, measurements, and disassembly, repair, and reassembly of the engine. Prepares students for ASE certification tests. This class is recommended to be taken concurrently with AUMT 2428.

MTRC 1419 Motorcycle Four Stroke Engine/Transmission
Overhaul procedures for four stroke motorcycle engines and transmissions. Emphasis on proper shop procedures for servicing the piston, cylinder, valve train, crankshaft assembly, and transmission during the course of an overhaul.

SMER 1425 Small Engine Electrical Systems
Theory of operation and test procedures and equipment used in the diagnosis and repair of the various circuits which make up a small engine electrical system. Ignition, charging, starting and all safety switches as well as color codes and wiring schematics are covered in this section.

SMER 1428 Small Engine Service Principles
Principles of operation of two and four stroke small engines and their associated systems. Emphasis on troubleshooting and the analysis of faulty systems and their components. Also covered are cutter decks, bar and chains, belt and clutch belt drive applications. This class covers oil and fuel applications and service and maintenance on commonly used lawn equipment.

ABDR 1431 Basic Refinishing
An introduction to current refinishing products, shop safety, and equipment used in the automotive refinishing industry. Emphasis on surface preparation, masking techniques, and refinishing of trim and replacement parts.

AUMT 1445 Automotive Heating and Air Conditioning
Theory of and maintenance of manual and automatic automotive air conditioning and heating systems. Emphasis on the basic refrigeration cycle and diagnosis and repair of system malfunctions. Covers EPA guidelines for refrigerant handling and new refrigerant replacements. Prepares students for ASE certification tests.

ABDR 1449 Automotive Plastic and Sheet Molded Compound Repair
A comprehensive course in repair of interior and exterior plastics including the use of various types of adhesives and plastic welding.

MTRC 1466 Practicum - Motorcycle Maintenance & Repair Technology/Technician
Practical, general workplace training supported by an individualized learning plan developed by the employer, college, and student.

AUMT 2413 Automotive Drive Train and Axles
A study of automotive clutches, clutch operation devices, standard transmissions, transaxles, and differentials with emphasis on the diagnosis and repair of transmissions and drive lines. Prepares students for ASE certification tests. This class is recommended to be taken concurrently with AUMT 2428.

AUMT 2417 Automotive Engine Performance Analysis I
Theory, operation, diagnosis, and repair of basic engine dynamics, both early and electronic ignition systems, fuel delivery systems, including carburetion and throttle body injection repair, and emission control systems. Use, care, and maintenance of basic engine performance diagnostic equipment. Prepares students for ASE certification tests.

AUMT 2425 Automotive Automatic Transmission and Transaxle
A study of the operation, hydraulic principles, and related circuits of modern automatic transmissions and automatic transaxles. Diagnosis, disassembly, and assembly procedures with emphasis on the use of special tools and proper repair techniques. Prepares students for ASE certification tests. This class is recommended to be taken concurrently with AUMT 2428.

AUMT 2428 Automotive Service
Mastery of automotive vehicle service and component systems repair. Emphasis on mastering current automotive competencies covered in related theory courses in specialized areas previously obtained by the student. The course will enhance the student's competency of NATEF task listings and give additional preparation for ASE testing and employment.

AUMT 2434 Automotive Engine Performance Analysis II
Diagnosis and repair of emission systems, computerized engine performance systems, and advanced ignition and fuel systems; proper use of advanced engine performance diagnostic equipment. Prepares students for ASE certification tests. Prerequisite: AUMT 1407 and AUMT 2417 with a grade of C or better.

AUMT 2437 Automotive Electronics
Topics address electrical principles, semiconductor and integrated circuits, digital fundamentals, microcomputer systems, computerized engine controls, and electrical test equipment as applied to automotive technology. Prepares students for ASE certification tests. Prerequisite: AUMT 1407 with a grade of C or better.

SMER 2450 Small Engine Capstone Projects
A capstone course that provides students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills gained in the program. The course should be taken after completing specific specialized courses in the program.

AUMT 2489 Internship - Automobile/Automotive Mechanics Technology/Technician
An experience external to the college for the advanced student in a specialized field involving a written agreement between the educational institution and a business or industry. Mentored and supervised by a workforce employee, the student achieves objectives that are developed and documented by the college and that are directly related to specific occupational outcomes. This may be a paid or unpaid experience. This course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary.
