Accountant, Senior
Reports To
Director
Job Purpose
To conduct financial accounting activities including preparation of monthly financial reports and statements; developing monthly audit schedules and updates; and providing assistance with annual audit process.
Description of Duties and Tasks
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assists in preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements.
Develops financial reports as required.
Develops audit schedules and updates with financial information on a monthly basis.
Collaborates with department members to resolve matters relating to financial reporting and audit preparation.
Stays current with new accounting pronouncements relating to financial reporting and fixed assets for public entities and grant regulations.
Provides assistance with documenting Business Services departmental procedures to ensure quality control.
Conducts research for relevant staff and departments as required.
Provides assistance with the annual audit process.
Conducts financial analysis of operations.
Establishes grant budgets that are consistent with the Notice of Grant Award.
May oversee and coordinate the work of Accountants, Specialists, and temporaries.
Knowledge

Required
Automated financial systems.
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) requirements for the preparation of financial schedules.
Financial reporting and annual auditing processes.
Current standards relating to financial reporting, including grant financial reporting.

Computer Skills
Required
Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications and automated financial systems.
Physical Requirements
Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds
Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling
Work is performed in a standard office environment.
Work Experience
Required
Three years work experience in accounting.
Education
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting.
Other
Preferred
Knowledge of Datatel software.
