PHTC 1311 - Fundamentals of Photography (3-2-4)
An introduction to camera operation and image production, composition, supplemental lighting, and use of exposure meters and filters. Students must furnish an approved adjustable digital camera capable of capturing in the Camera Raw format and interchangeable lenses and a sturdy tripod.

An introduction to computer and software instruction for electronic imaging. Includes color, gray scale, image conversion, presentation, and ethics. Students must have basic computer knowledge and an understanding of file management. Requires visual acuity, accurate color perception, and good eye/hand coordination. Class is taught on the Macintosh platform. Students must provide a portable hard drive with proper connectivity for the Macintosh computer.

PHTC 2301 - Intermediate Photography (3-1-8)
Continuation of Fundamentals of Photography. Emphasizes social, portrait, studio, fashion, theatrical, publicity, and event photography. Student will work both in the studio and on location. Student must provide a Digital Camera with interchangeable lenses and capable of capturing in the RAW format. Students will need to purchase a portable dedicated flash for their camera capable of working in both auto and manual control and must have variable power settings. It is highly recommended that prior to purchase students confer with their Intermediate instructor about which flashes meet the minimum requirements. The expected cost is $250-500. Rental may be available through a local camera store.
