COSC 1301 - Introduction to Computing (3-2-2)
Overview of computer systems—hardware, operating systems, and microcomputer application software, including the Internet, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation graphics, and databases. Current issues such as the effect of computers on society, and the history and use of computers in business, educational, and other modern settings are also studied. This course provides the required computer literacy core competencies that all students need to attain by graduation.

COSC 1315 - Fundamentals of Programming (3-3-1)
An introduction to computer concepts, logic, and computer programming. Includes designing, coding, debugging, testing, and documenting programs using a high-level programming language. The emphasis of the course will be on design and concepts more so than on extensive language syntax.

COSC 1336 - Programming Fundamentals I (3-3-1)
Introduces the fundamental concepts of structured programming. Topics include software development methodology, data types, control structures, functions, arrays, and the mechanics of running, testing, and debugging. This course assumes computer literacy. This course requires the same math skills necessary for College Algebra. Students should either have taken or be currently enrolled in College Algebra or a course that requires College Algebra.

COSC 1337 - Programming Fundamentals II (3-2-2)
Review of control structures and data types with emphasis on structured data types. Applies the object-oriented programming paradigm, focusing on the definition and use of classes along with the fundamentals of object-oriented design. Includes basic analysis of algorithms, searching and sorting techniques, and an introduction to software engineering.

COSC 2425 - Computer Organization and Machine Language -- PC Assembly (4-3-3)
Computer organization and programming for the microcomputer. Emphasis on macros, assemblers, loaders, linkers, channels, subroutines, coroutines, internal and I/O operations, low level I/O, recursion, data manipulation including arrays and records.
