CDEC 1166 - Practicum (or Field Experience) - Child Care Provider/Assistant I (1-0-8)
A specialized, practical workplace experience designed to strengthen students' job skills by providing an opportunity to use acquired skills and techniques with young children. An individualized learning plan will be developed by the placement site, college and student. Course includes 128 hours of regularly scheduled, supervised fieldwork experience; a minimum of 64 hours of these fieldwork hours must be completed at the ACC Lab School. Students who have taken 15-25 hours of CDEC must enroll in this course before completing additional CDEC hours. Offered in Spring.

CDEC 1241 - CDA Preparation for Assessment (2-2-0)
Preparation for the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential assessment. Includes writing CDA competency statements, completing a CDA professional resource file, and preparing for formal CDA observation and assessment. Completion of or concurrent enrollment in 9 or more hours of other courses in the Academic CDA Training Program required for departmental approval.

 Observation Strategies for Teaching - A study of attitudes and behaviors pertinent to child development and to the student's professional development. Emphasis is placed on observing and recording children's behaviors and utilizing this information in an applied setting; professional ethics; and the workplace.
