| Krav Maga was developed by the Israeli military. Students will learn defenses against grabs, punches, chokes, and more. These techniques have been utilized by the Israeli military & police forces during actual warfare & street riots which means the techniques have been tested to be very effective. We help build a strategic mindset of how to defend an attack, strike effective targets and get away in the quickest and most effective way possible. | Boxing is one of the most intense full-body workout of any sport or exercise. It combines a variety of activities including rope jumping, abdominals, stretching, and punching exercises. You will be taught basic punching skills that can be developed through practice on speed bags, double-end bags, and heavy bags. Through these combined activities you will burn fat, as well as build and tone your muscles. You will also have a chance to observe both amateur and professional boxers working in the gym. This is a real learning experience! This class is non-contact. Students must also bring a towel to each class. | Texas Rowing Center offers several paddling options, including standup paddling, kayaking, and canoeing. The Paddling Sampler allows students to try all three of these paddling options, while developing upper-body and core strength on stunning Lady Bird Lake. We will spend three hours (two sessions) learning the basics for each of the three paddling disciplines-standup paddling, kayaking, and canoeing (nine hours/six sessions total). You’ll learn straight-paddling strokes, safety protocols, turns, and conditioning while exploring one of the most beautiful urban waterways in the United States. This course promises to enable new birders to identify many of our local birds so that they can take their new skills and apply them well after the class is over. | Knives are legal to carry and easily accessible which makes it a very attractive weapon for criminals. A skilled ITK practitioner defending against an unskilled attacker has a huge advantage in the outcome of the attack. ITK is an excellent way to develop a keen understanding of how a knife is used in an attack. It is also a great way to develop a sense of the flow of an assault with a knife, improve footwork, and improve recognition of knife motion and patterns. All of this helps students greatly enhance their ability to “read” the existence and direction of travel of a knife being used against them. This is a critical ability to possess and to develop AND especially when learning empty hand versus knife tactics as taught in our HAGANAH program.
