| This course is an introduction to Fine Art Photography. We will look at many samples, from the early days to contemporary to give a better understanding of Fine Art photography and how your pictures fit into this genre. We will have simple projects to improve your skills of thinking clearly, and seeing well and in class critique to learn from each other. From high end professional to simple point-and-shoot cameras will work for this course. We will also review how the camera works in order to get the desired results. | |

| This course presents beginning and advanced techniques in travel photography. Students will explore camera models, lens options, filters, and accessories. The focus will be on effective picture making techniques, cross cultural etiquette, and strategies for personal photo essay use and the possibility of publishing. | |

| PHTC 1011 - Fundamentals of Digital Photography | |
| A fully digital course that teaches the student how to operate, and better utilize photographic equipment including DSLR cameras, lenses, hot shoe flash, studio flash, wireless transmitters, handheld light meters, filters, and tripods. Introduction to basic photographic theories will include camera setup, proper exposure for a variety of lighting situations, image composition, and custom white balance. There will be multiple assignments to reinforce basic photographic concepts. Students will use the studio to learn lighting patterns and studio strobe function. Students will be introduced to color theory using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop in a color managed environment to organize, color correct, retouch, and prepare images for output. Students must provide an acceptable adjustable digital SLR camera or SLR film camera. Point and shoot cameras are not acceptable. This course is taught by an Adobe Certified Instructor. | |

| PHTC 2001 - Intermediate Photography | |
| A fully digital course that builds upon PHTC 1011 Fundamentals of Digital Photography. Students will further develop their photographic skill set in the studio, the laboratory, and on location with technical and practical exercises including architectural, still life, black line glass, white on white, advanced portrait with lighting ratio's, panorama, and synchro sun photography. Students will learn advanced features of Photoshop including retouching in layers, Layer Masking, Color Correction by the numbers, creating a Watermark, and using Photomerge to create a panoramic image. Students must have completed PHTC 1011 prior to registering for PHTC 2001. This course is taught by an Adobe Certified Instructor. | |

| PHTC 9000 - Photography: Beginning | |
| This class teaches you how to create more interesting photographs. Topics include composition, lighting, lenses, filters, color balance, and digital workflow. A digital SLR is preferred but a digital point and shoot camera is also acceptable. | |

| PHTX 3001 - Intermediate Photography: Darkroom Techniques | |
| A digital based Intermediate Photography course that builds upon the Digital Fundamentals of Photography. Emphasizes social, portrait, studio, fashion, theatrical, publicity, and event photography. Student will work both in the studio and on location. All output is digitally based. Student must provide a digital camera capable of capturing in the RAW format. | |

| PHTX 3003 - Introduction to Digital Photography | |
| A comprehensive and practical introduction to digital photography, which will greatly enhance your technical skills and creativity. The course will enable the student to effectively use a digital camera in a variety of settings, edit the images, and finally create prints for display. We will begin by covering photography fundamentals such as exposure, composition and lighting as needed by class members. Students will become familiar with the various types of equipment used in digital photography including digital SLR cameras, Nikon portable flash equipment, tripods, light meters, etc. Students will also learn to edit and organize their images on PC computers using Adobe Lightroom 2 software and print their images using the professional Epson 3880 printers. An emphasis is placed on the student gaining practical experience through a series of photography projects throughout the semester. Students must provide an acceptable adjustable digital SLR camera. Point and shoot cameras are not acceptable. | |

| PHTX 3004 - Digital Photography Lab Class | |
| A course designed for those who wish to edit and print their digital images utilizing professional equipment without spending thousands on the necessary equipment and instruction. The basics of image manipulation and retouching will be taught primarily using Adobe Lightroom (and Adobe Photoshop to a smaller extent) on a PC platform . Students will learn both color and black and white printing techniques using the Epson 3880 printers (17 x22 max print size). The instructor will also be available to offer guidance to questions regarding digital photography. Students must supply their own paper for printing. The proper types of paper will be discussed in class. | |

| PHTX 3005 - Intermediate Digital Photography | |
| Having covered the basics of digital photography in PHTX 3003, students will refine their photography skills by working through a series of in class projects which will include portraits, landscapes, fine art, photojournalism, etc. The class will be structured so that we will meet on location or in studio one class and then critique each other's work then edit and print images during the next class session. Students will learn more advanced image manipulation and retouching methods primarily using Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop to a smaller extent on PC computers. Color and black & white printing techniques will be taught utilizing Epson 3880 printers (17 x22 max print size). Students should be comfortable using their camera in manual exposure mode and must provide an acceptable adjustable digital SLR camera. Point and shoot cameras are not acceptable. It is not necessary to have taken PHTX 3003, but recommended. | |

| PHTX 3006 - Portraiture I | |
| A course which will introduce students to portrait lighting, posing, interacting with subjects and basic retouching. Students will learn techniques utilizing studio lighting, portable flash equipment and natural lighting. We will cover photographing subjects in a variety of styles including a candid or photo-journalistic manner as well as more formal, posed style. Basic retouching will be taught using Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop to a smaller extent. Students must provide an acceptable adjustable digital SLR camera. Point and shoot cameras are not acceptable. | |
