ARTC 1002 - Digital Imaging I
An introduction to Adobe Photoshop CS5 for creating, manipulating and preparing creative images for print and web output. Gain understanding of resolution and pixel depth. Basic computing literacy required. Integrated with college credit ARTC 1402. ARTC 1013 - Digital Publishing I
An introduction to designing and producing layout for graphic design using Adobe InDesign CS5. The evolution of the printing process from concept to final printed project will be covered. ARTC 2013 - Digital Publishing II
An advanced class covering further design and production skills using Adobe Creative Suite 5. Advanced production techniques including: trapping, correct color definition, color separations, paper, printing techniques, duotones, working with printers, budgeting and bidding. Laboratory fee. GRPH 1059 - Vector Graphics for Production
Introduction to the tools and transformation options of Adobe Illustrator to create complex vector illustrations for print and web-based media. Mastery in manipulation of both text and graphics with emphasis on the use of the pen tool. Integrated with college credit GRPH 1359. A study of mark-up language advanced layout techniques for creating web pages. Emphasis on indentifying the target audience and producing web sites according to accessibility standards, cultural appearance, and legal issues. A comprehensive use of HTML tags will be used in conjunction with up-to-date authoring software to publish a complete website for a corporate identity. Integrated with college credit IMED 2415. IMED 2045 - Interactive Digital Media II
An introduction to basic programming skills for visual artists and designers. Topics covered include drawing with code, variables, conditional logic, looping structures, functions and interactivity. For those in the new Interactive Media Technology degree plan who have already completed IMED 1470 Procedural Literacy, this will be a more advanced class covering visual and interactive Javascript programming for the HTML 5 canvas element. IMPORTANT Fall 2011 only - Register for either section, as each section will be split into two groups. One for those who are seeking the old Web design degree (major declared prior to fall 2010) and another for those who are in the new Interactive Media Technology degree plan (Fall 2010 and after.)
