Hospitality, Meeting and Event Planning, Tourism




The Meeting and Events Planning program is designed to give the student an overview into the many sectors of the meeting and event planning industry. The courses are taught in both lecture and applied formats so that a student may gain real world experience while they are in the program. Areas of career opportunities for students completing this program are corporate event management, exposition and tradeshow management, conventions and conferences, visitors' bureaus, catering, venue sales, wedding planning, and vendor representation. The courses taken in this program will count towards CEU credits for the International Special Events Society, Meeting Planners International and the National Association of Catering Executives. All students seeking this degree will need to be advised by the department to finalize course selections.

To receive a certificate in Meeting Planning, a student must a) earn a grade of "C" or higher in all courses required to fulfill degree requirements, including general education courses, and b) meet Austin Community College's overall graduation requirements.
