General Studies


Associate of Arts Degree

The General Studies program is designed for students desiring a liberal arts education and those who are planning to transfer to a four year institution to major in a liberal arts or education field.

To receive an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies, Liberal Arts, the student must make a minimum grade of C in all core curriculum courses and have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher.

  1Select from the following courses: HIST 1301, HIST 1302, HIST 2301, HIST 2327, HIST 2328, HIST 2381. Courses may only be taken once. Courses may be taken in any order.
  2Select from the appropriate section of the Core Curriculum Course List.
  3Select any Speech course from Communications in the Core Curriculum Course List.
  4Select courses from Natural Sciences in the Core Curriculum Course List. At least one Natural Sciences course chosen must have a lab component.
  5Must be from the same language taken in the previous semester.
  6Select any course from the Core Curriculum Course List. Students are encouraged to choose a course that fits their four-year degree plan. Students are encouraged to talk to an advisor before selecting their Restricted Elective.
