FAS 1023 OJT INTERNSHIP II (3-1-20). Fashion Merchandising Internship objectives emphasize practical training and personal development which is compatible with the fashion industry and the career goals of the individual.There is a mandatory 1 hour seminar each week. FAS 1103 PRINCIPLES OF FASHION MERCHANDISING (3-3-0). This course is designed to give an introduction to the fashion industry. Physiological, psychological and sociological factors of fashion merchandising will be studied. The student will become acquainted with the selection, distribution, and consumption of fashion apparel. Skills: R

FAS 1113 HISTORY OF ART IN FASHION (3-3-0). A study of fashion designs, arts and motifs from ancient civilization to present day fashions. Included: each period's silhouettes, the cultures and modern day adaptations, international and USA fashion creators, and an overview of art in relation to fashions, figures and fabrics. Skills: R

FAS 1123 FASHION DYNAMICS AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT (3-3-0). A study of current fashion trends and fashion terminology, emphasizing the best methods of attaining individual development in business. Discusses how to become a successful representative of the fashion industry. Correct wardrobe, hair styles, make-up, figure control, grooming essentials and modeling techniques will be explored. FAS 1133 TEXTILES (3-3-0). The course will provide an understanding of fibers, yarns, weaves, designs and finishes with emphasis on information applicable to the selection of textiles used in the fashion industry. Skills: R

FAS 2013 OJT INTERNSHIP III (3-1-20). FAS 2023 OJT INTERNSHIP IV (3-1-20). Four semesters of On-The-Job training (OJT) per week during each semester at an approved job. There is a mandatory 1 hour seminar each week. FAS 2103 FASHION BUYING AND MERCHANDISING (3-3-0). Fundamental concepts of the buying and merchandising of fashion products are studied. Develops an understanding of methods of inventory, elements of profit, pricing, markup, reductions, terms of sale and objectives of planning, control and turnover of fashion merchandise. Sources of buying information, selection of fashion merchandise and responsibilities of buyers will be analyzed. Skills: R Prerequisites: FAS 1103

FAS 2113 FASHION SHOW PRODUCTION (3-3-0). This course will develop skills necessary to stage fashion show productions. Includes staging, choreography, music coordination, modeling techniques, set design, clothing coordination and publicity. Skills: R Prerequisites: FAS 1103

FAS 2123 FASHION PROMOTION AND DISPLAY (3-3-0). This course is a study of the promotion of fashion products. Sales promotion activities, display techniques, visual merchandising and publicity styles of leading department stores will be explored and examined. Students will prepare a sales promotion presentation as a term project. Skills: R Prerequisites: FAS 1103

FAS 2133 SPECIAL TOPICS IN FASHION MERCHANDISING (3-3-0). This course is designed to deal with specific topics in the fashion industry to include: a trip to a Fashion Center to view first-hand buying, merchandising, promotion, design and manufacturing; a study of the manufacturing process of fashion products in the local and surrounding area. May be repeated for credit when topics vary. All travel expenses paid by student. Department approval necessary prior to enrollment. Skills: R
