Foreign Language Degree Plan

GERM 0041 GERMAN LAB (1-0-2). An elective lab course for students desiring improvement of listening, writing, reading, or speaking skills in German for a course in which they are enrolled. Content to come from text, workbook, and recordings required in the German course and any additional materials provided by the lab instructor.
German I Lab - For students in German 1511, a course in which they are enrolled.
German II and III Lab - For students in German 1512 or German 2311, a course in which they are enrolled.
This course is not for college-level credit. Skills: E ( ) Course Type: D

GERM 1300 GERMAN CONVERSATION (3-3-0). The primary objective of the course is to develop the student's competency in communicating through the spoken medium. Class time will be spent in simple conversation and discussion of material read outside class. Emphasis will be on idiomatic expressions used in daily speech, pronunciation and vocabulary building. Skills: E Prerequisites: GERM 1511 or equivalent or instructor approval. ( ) Course Type: T

GERM 1511 GERMAN I (5-5-0). Study of fundamentals of German: conversation, basic writing, listening and reading comprehension, vocabulary building, grammar, and culture. Skills: E ( ) Course Type: T

GERM 1512 GERMAN II (5-5-0). Continuation of GERM 1511 with more advanced conversation, basic writing, listening and reading comprehension, vocabulary building, grammar, and culture. Skills: E Prerequisites: Students must have completed a first semester college German course of at least four semester hours with a grade of C or better, or have equivalent credit by examination to enroll in GERM 1512. ( ) Course Type: T

GERM 2311 GERMAN III (3-3-0). Advanced German grammar, directed composition, conversation, and discussion of culture based on readings. Class conducted largely in German. Skills: E Prerequisites: Students must have completed a second semester college German course of at least four semester hours with a grade of C or better, or have equivalent credit by examination to enroll in GERM 2311. ( ) Course Type: T

GERM 2312 GERMAN IV (3-3-0). Continuation of GERM 2311. Skills: E Prerequisites: GERM 2311 with a C or better, or equivalent. ( ) Course Type: T
