Auto Body and Collision Repair


ABDR 1301 AUTO BODY REPAIR AND REPAINTING (3-2-2). An introduction to the use of hand and power tools, techniques of metalworking, body preparation, plastic fillers, fiberglass and SMC repair, sanding, and application of primers with emphasis on shop safety practices. ABDR 1307 AUTO BODY WELDING (3-2-4). A study of industry and standard welding and cutting procedures. Fee: $24 Insurance: $3.50 Prerequisites: ABDR 1301. ( ) Course Type: W

ABDR 1311 VEHICLE MEASUREMENT AND DAMAGE REPAIR PROCEDURES (3-2-4). Introduction to damaged vehicle measurement and alignment systems. Fee: $24 Insurance: $3.50 ( ) Course Type: W

ABDR 1315 VEHICLE TRIM AND HARDWARE (3-2-2). An in depth study of vehicle trim and glass service. Fee: $24 Insurance: $3.50 ( ) Course Type: W

ABDR 1419 BASIC METAL REPAIR (4-3-3). In depth coverage of basic metal principles and working techniques including proper tool usage and product application. Fee: $24 Insurance: $3.50 Prerequisites: ABDR 1301. ( ) Course Type: W

ABDR 1431 BASIC REFINISHING (4-3-3). An introduction to current refinishing products, shop safety, and equipment used in the automotive refinishing industry. Emphasis on surface preparation, masking techniques, and refinishing of trim and replacement parts. Fee: $24 Insurance: $3.50 Prerequisites: ABDR 1301. ( ) Course Type: W

ABDR 1441 STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS AND DAMAGE REPAIR I (4-3-3). Expanded training in the roughing and shaping procedures on automotive sheet metal necessary to make satisfactory body repairs. Emphasis on the alignment of component parts such as doors, hood, front-end assemblies, and desk lids. Fee: $24 Insurance: $3.50 Prerequisites: ABDR 1419. ( ) Course Type: W

ABDR 1442 STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS AND DAMAGE REPAIR II (4-3-3). Continuation of general repair and replacement procedures for damaged structural parts and collision damage. Fee: $24 Insurance: $3.50 Prerequisites: ABDR 1441. ( ) Course Type: W

ABDR 1449 AUTOMOTIVE PLASTIC AND SHEET MOLDED COMPOUND REPAIR (4-3-3). A comprehensive course in repair of interior and exterior plastics including the use of various types of adhesives and plastic welding. Fee: $24 Insurance: $3.50 Prerequisites: ABDR-1301. ( ) Course Type: W

ABDR 1458 INTERMEDIATE REFINISHING (4-3-3). Expanded training in mixing and spraying of automotive topcoats. Emphasis on formula ingredient, reducing, thinning, and special spraying techniques. ABDR 2257 COLLISION REPAIR SHOP MANAGEMENT (2-1-2). A study of methods and equipment used in collision repair shops to improve management functions and profitability. Fee: $24 Insurance: $3.50 Prerequisites: ABDR 1301. ( ) Course Type: W

ABDR 2355 COLLISION REPAIR ESTIMATING (3-3-0). An advanced course in collision estimating and development of an accurate damage report. Prerequisites: ABDR 1301. ( ) Course Type: W

ABDR 2449 ADVANCED REFINISHING (4-3-3). Skill development in multi-stage refinishing techniques. Further development in identification of problems and solutions in color matching and partical panel refinishing. Fee: $24 Insurance: $3.50 Prerequisites: ABDR 1458. ( ) Course Type: W

ABDR 2453 COLOR ANALYSIS AND PAINT MATCHING (4-3-3). Advanced course in color theory, color analysis, tinting, and advanced blending techniques for acceptable paint matching. Fee: $24 Insurance: $3.50 Prerequisites: ABDR 1431. ( ) Course Type: W

ABDR 2480 COOPERATIVE EDUCATION - AUTOBODY/COLLISION AND REPAIR TECHNOLOGY/TECHNICIAN (4-1-21). Career-related activities encountered in the student's area of specialization offered through an individualized agreement among the college, employer, and student. Under the supervision of the college and the employer, the student combined classroom learning with work experience. Includes a lecture component.
