Associate of Arts

The Associate of Arts degree in Government is intended to provide students with the first two years of government courses and to prepare them for transfer to an institution which grants a baccalaureate degree.

Students who plan to transfer to an institution which grants a baccalaureate degree in order to continue their study of government should refer to the catalog of that institution and consult with an ACC instructor of government.

1 Choose one course. HIST 2301, History of Texas, may be taken only once. HIST 1302 may be taken before HIST 1301.
2 Foreign language hours must be taken in the same language.
3 Please select from the Natural Science section of the General Education Core courses.
4 Please select from the Humanities/Fine Arts section of the General Education Course list.
5 Choose from the following: SOCI 1301, PSYC 2301, HIST 2311, HIST 2312, ECON 2302, ANTH 2301, ANTH 2351, GEOG 1301, GEOG 1302, SOCI 1306
6 Students may repeat GOV 2633 for credit if the Special Topics differ.
7 General Electives: Although these courses may be selected from any program, students planning to transfer to an institution for a baccalaureate degree are advised to choose electives which will be applicable to their baccalaureate degree. Students are encouraged to satisfy the Natural Sciences and Visual and Performing Arts section of the Core Curriculum.
