Philosophy


PHIL 1301 INTRODUCTION TO PHILOSOPHY (3-3-0). A study of the nature of philosophy and various traditions. Includes a study of major western philosophers, philosophical problems, and critical thinking. Skills: R (PHL 1613)

PHIL 2303 LOGIC (3-3-0). A study of the rules of argument, inductive and deductive reasoning, the recognition of informal and formal fallacies, and the application of logical thinking in work and social situations. Skills: R (PHL 1633)

PHIL 2306 ETHICS (3-3-0). A study of the principles of morality with a critical examination of various ethical theories and their application to contemporary moral issues. Skills: R (PHL 1623)

PHIL 2321 PHILOSOPHY OF RELIGION (3-3-0). An analysis of the concept of God, the nature of religion and religious experience with an emphasis on such themes as the problem of evil, rationality and religious belief, and arguments for and against the concept of a deity. Skills: R (PHL 1643)
