Associate of Arts

The Associate of Arts degree in Psychology is intended to provide students with the first two years of general requirements and a basis in psychology that will prepare them for transfer to an institution which grants a baccalaureate degree.

Special note: Students who plan to transfer to an institution which grants a baccalaureate degree to continue their study of psychology should refer to the catalog of that institution and consult with an ACC instructor of psychology.

1 Foreign language hours must be in the same language.
2 Visual and Performing Arts from the Core Curriculum.
3 Natural Sciences/Math-selected from natural sciences and math in Groups 5 and 2 of the General Education Core Courses (refer to catalog index).
4 English elective.
5 Student may elect to take SPE 1311, Introduction to Speech Communication; or SPE 1315, Fundamentals of Public Speaking; or SPE 1318, Interpersonal Communication.
6 Although electives may be taken from any program, students intending to continue their study at a four year college or university should consider taking electives from the following: PSYC 2315, PSY 1633, PSY 1643, PSYC 2308, PSYC 2316, PSY 2673, CIS 1003, SOCI 1301. Students may also choose to satisfy the Natural Sciences and Humanities section of the Core Curriculum.

7 Psychology Elective: Students can choose from: PYSC 2315, PSY 1633, PSY 1643, PSYC 2308, PSYC 2319, and PSY 2673.
