NURSING
Associate of Applied Science Degree

Curriculum subject to change based on Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board mandates.

The Associate Degree Nursing program is a two-year course of study that includes classroom, laboratory, and clinical learning experiences. Upon successful completion of the program the graduate will be eligible to apply to take the national licensure examination to become a registered nurse (R.N.). The Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas determines eligibility for licensure. Applicants for licensure must provide necessary information regarding drug, alcohol, or conviction history for determination of licensure eligibility. Registered nurses prepared at the associate degree level possess a high degree of technical nursing skills and apply scientific principles to all nursing care. Graduates of an associate degree-nursing program may continue their education for two or more years at a four-year college to earn a bachelor's degree. ADMISSION TO THE COLLEGE DOES NOT GUARANTEE ADMISSION TO THE ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING PROGRAM. All nursing courses must be taken in the following sequence. Students may choose to complete any of the corequisite general education courses prior to enrolling in the nursing courses. Students must be accepted into the program prior to enrolling for any NSG course. Admission criteria may be obtained from the Associate Degree Nursing Program office. CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training must be completed prior to enrollment and maintained throughout the Associate Degree Nursing Program. NURSING MOBILITY TRACK I
Associate of Applied Science Degree

Curriculum subject to change based on Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board mandates.

The Assocaite Degree Nursing ProgramMobility Track I is a separate plan of study for Licensed Vocational Nurses with current acute care experience that includes classroom, laboratory, and clinical learning experiences. It is a part-time program specifically designed to meet the unique learning needs of the practicing LVN. Applicants must meet all entry requirements of the two-year Associate Degree Nursing Program and must be a LVN in Texas. Additional admission requirements of the Mobility Track I may be obtained from the Associate Degree Nursing Program office. Upon successful completion of the Mobility Track I the graduate will be eligible to apply to take the national licensure examination to become a Registered Nurse. The Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas determines eligibility for licensure. Applicants for licensure must provide necessary information regarding drug, alcohol, or conviction history for determination of licensure eligibility.

NURSING MOBILITY TRACK II
Associate of Applied Science Degree

The Associate Degree Nusring Program Mobility Track II is a separate plan of study for Licensed Vocational Nurses without current acute care experience and Paramedics that includes classroom, laboratory, and clinical learning experiences. It is a program specifically designed to meet the unique learning needs of the Paramedic and the experienced Licensed Vocational Nurse who is unable to meet the eligibility requirements for Mobility Track I.

Applicants must meet all entry requirements for the two year Associate Degree Nursing Program. Additional admission requirements for the Mobility Track II may be obtained from the Associate Degree Program office or Advising Centers. Upon successful completion of the Mobility Track II, the graduate is eligible to apply to take the National Licensure Examination to become a Registered Nurse (RN). The Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas determines eligibility for licensure. Applicants for licensure must provide necessary information regarding drug, alcohol, or conviction history for determination of licensure eligibility.
